Sex & The City Or Waiting to Exhale?

It's a tug of war of love, ladies and gentlemen! Representing the east side are the fashionable ladies of New York: Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha. And keeping it real for the sisters on the west side of the rope is Arizona's finest: Bernadine, Savannah, Gloria, and Robin. In the struggle of who best represents the 30 and 40 something woman's search for love and understanding, who really put it down at the theater?

Let's start by comparing some of memorable scenes and memories from both movies:

Of course, these are just a few considerations when deciding which film wins in the end. But then again, may be it's not of question which film is better, but where you see yourself in each character and their situation. That's the real deciding factor. As for me, I'm still at the spoken word spot in Love Jones wondering which cutie will be fated to spill his drink while standing next to me at the bar.

I loved both movies, Sex and the City appealed to me because it was modern and hip, Waiting to Exhale appealed to the sistagirl in me.

What I could not stand in Waiting to Exhale was Robin (Lela Rochon) being as dumb as a box of rocks, I would like to believe NONE of my real girls are ever that damn naive, but there is always one not so bright one in every group ;-)

Overall the woman in me relates to both movies just the same, but as a black woman our reactions to similar situations white women face are often waaaay more dramatic, take both husband cheating scenes, Miranda just wanted no parts of Steve, Bernie made her husbands life a living hell and I loved the mistress slap!

Thats all.

I loved both as well. The Diva in me loves SATC (gotta have the Manolo's!!)...the "sista girl" still loves WTE. Unfortunately, I've met a few Robin's in my lifetime! And I know a few Samantha's right now!!
Love the post Alice!!

Sex and the City seems to have a polarizing effect on both men and women... people either love the movie or they hate it
