For Colored Girls Behind-The-Scenes: Janet Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg & More

Whoopi Goldberg, Thandie Newton, Kerry Washington, Anika Noni Rose, Kimberly Elise, Loretta Devine, Phylicia Rashad, Tessa Thompson and the lady in red, Janet Jackson...talk about name dropping! This ensemble of mega talent and artistry in "For Colored Girls" is simply astounding. And then add to that the impact of the original, award-winning stage play by Ntozake Shange, then you realize just how powerful a written and performed work can be.

But not only that, pause for just a moment a think of the contributions these women individually have made to the world of entertainment whether stage, television, or film. It's what I sincerely call amazing! Yes, it's an overused word, especially in Hollywood, but it best describes the body of work these artists have contributed to the world even before "For Colored Girls."

In the video below, listen to the original writer of "For Colored Girls", Ntozake Shange, and the film's actresses share their insights on the play, the highly anticipated film, their individual roles, and Tyler Perry's direction while on the set in New York. There's great behind-the-scenes footage as well.
